St. Andrews Nursery School Classroom

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Since 1947, our school has served the community with a deep commitment to early childhood education, evolving over time to meet its changing needs. As part of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego, we offer a loving, Christian environment with a developmentally appropriate preschool for ages 2 to 5, and a nursery for infants as young as 6 weeks. Our dedicated, long-term staff supports a theme-based curriculum rooted in play, exploration, and faith—focusing on areas like art, music, movement, language, math, science, outdoor and dramatic play, Bible study, and sensory learning. Community is at the heart of what we do, and many of our former students now send their own children to grow and thrive with us.

WHAT SAFETY MEASURES DO WE OFFER?

We have a comprehensive safety plan in place, which includes emergency backpacks located in each room. These backpacks contain disaster plans, first aid kits, and essential emergency supplies. We work closely with the La Mesa Fire and Police Departments to ensure our plans are up-to-date and thorough. Additionally, we have an extensive evacuation plan that utilizes key nearby locations. Our staff participate in safety training, including CPR and first aid, at least twice per year to maintain preparedness. We are gated with a keypad enrty, have security cameras outside our entries and parking lots.

ENROLLMENT & ADMISSIONS

The enrollment process is a simple application and tour with our Administration team!

When your kids are enrolled, we use BrightWheel, a comprehensive platform that enables direct communication between families, teachers, and administration through messaging. It also allows for easy sharing of student photos and serves as a convenient hub for tuition payments.

Additionally, we accept tuition subsidies from MCCYN, CDA, and YMCA and are open to partnering with other subsidy programs to support families in need.

We currently offer a 10% discount for siblings, active military members, and St. Andrew’s Parish parishioners. We also strive to support our families and, when possible, can provide assistance during difficult times. We value open communication and are always willing to work with our families to ensure the best possible experience.

PARENT COMMUNICATION & INVOLVEMENT

We keep parents informed through monthly newsletters, the brightwheel app, and an open-door policy in our office. We also offer parent-teacher meetings upon request and pre-k assessment 2 times a year.

We love having involved families! Throughout the year, we host several special events, including our Easter celebration, Christmas Pageant, End-of-the-Year BBQ and Art Show, just to name a few. These events provide wonderful opportunities for families to connect, celebrate, and be part of our school community. We even have active parents as part of our school board!

WHAT PARENTS SAY

"Our boys have both gone to St Andrew’s since they were 4 months and 8 months old. We and they love it! The staff there are so kind, and they love the kids like they are their own. They really care about their jobs and taking care of the kids as well as helping support the parents. It is always hard leaving your babies with someone else, but it felt like we were leaving them with family. I also found myself asking them for advice on different developmental stages for the boys like starting solid foods, struggles getting them to sleep or nap, potty training advice, and a million more topics. They were always so kind and helpful! My youngest is about to go off to kindergarten and we will miss our St Andrew’s family. "
